Nowadays, globalization is facing headwinds with the rise of unilateralism and protectionism, while growing imbalances in global development have raised widespread concerns.

“We have seen some withdrawal of funding from the U.S. sources... It's particularly impacting our humanitarian operations,” said Guy Ryder, UN undersecretary-general for policy, at the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025.
